March in Montana, Great Falls, March, ’09

My passion for western landscape was catalyzed by my early exposure to the work of the pioneering 19th century photographers William Henry Jackson, John Hillers, Timothy O’Sullivan and the important early 20th century photographer of the American Indian, Edward S. Curtis whose images I collected and dealt in beginning in the mid-seventies, while I was still employed as a financial and public relations consultant.   Vintage photography led to early color plate western imagery, thence to antique American Indian art and ultimately to late 19th and early 20th century American paintings with a principal emphasis on work of the leading deceased artists of Colorado and the intermountain west..  During my nearly thirty years as a full-time fine art dealer, I’ve operated public gallery spaces, exhibited in fine art, antique American Indian art and antiques shows throughout the country, advertised nationally in antique and fine art magazines and journals, and, very early on in the internet era, successfully developed a strong web presence as a regional art specialist.  Since 1991, I’ve operated privately by appointment, and am an acquisition-driven paintings dealer widely- known for high aesthetic standards,, scholarship, connoisseurship,  and selectivity.
